With so many new companies in the Delta-8 industry right now, some are taking advantage of inexperienced customers, selling low-quality or often mislabeled products, for a profit. Luckily though, companies like Maui Labs use third-party testing to verify the quality of our products and give customers the confidence to know that they are getting exactly what they pay for.

What is Third Party Lab Testing?

Basically, third-party testing is when blind tests are run at a third-party facility, on samples of new Delta-8 batches, from your company. The most common form is known as High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Because it doesn’t require high temperatures, it gives the most accurate breakdown of a sample cannabinoid’s content.

Once the testing is done, the lab will send detailed reports back to the companies. These reports contain information about the contents of that D8 sample, any other cannabinoid’s that may be present, information on contaminating substances that could taint the product, and verifying product potency.

Why is it Important?

The importance of third-party testing lies in the fact that, if used and shown to your customers, it shows them that you as a company have nothing to hide, your product is potent, and you can guarantee your customers that no contaminants have found their way into the product.

Contamination can come from many places. The hemp plant itself can sometimes take on heavy metals and pesticides from the soil it grows in. The processing phase can take on contaminants from the solvents and hydrocarbons used in production pipelines. Also, microbiological contaminants such as mold, yeast or salmonella can find their way onto products.

Identifying these contaminants is why third-party testing is crucial not only for a company, but for the customer to also be guaranteed that the product they are purchasing is free from contaminants.

Company Transparency?

Testing can be both expensive and tedious but having the integrity to remain honest with customers about your products, separates the companies you can trust from those you can’t.
